The stretch of road, about three kms, from Arla - Keri to Sri Anant temple at Savoi Verem
has always been one of my favourites. The trees on both sides are home to at least 20-25
species of birds and you can distinctly hear about 10-15 different bird calls. If lucky, one
may see at least half of them. A bit away from that road, in the woody interior, I always
hear peacocks yelling.
The main road runs in the middle of a gentle hill slope with private orchard land on one side
and a ravine on the other. The ravine has a beautiful clear water stream flowing, during the
rains. On a whim, I decided to walk along the stretch today early in the morning. I was there
before dawn and just wandered up and down for about two hours.
I have been meaning to venture away from the road into the woody terrain but never did it
till today. It was fully bright by about seven in the morningIt and not yet hot. So, I also went
into the shallow hilly, woody, area.
It was enchanting and rewarding !
